Management of AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine have commended Business and Financial Times for the professionalism it attaches to its work in the media space.

According to the Senior Manager in charge of Sustainability, Emmanuel Baidoo, Business & Financial Times has carved an enviable niche with its outstanding news reports and analysis, particularly in the area of business and issues related to the economy.

He emphasised that as a mining company with a strong belief in development of the community in which they operate, they hold information put out by B&FT in very high esteem as well as trusting the Paper’s judgment in the area of development.

“I must congratulate you; we cannot doubt your level of professionalism. Anytime I look at our presence in the media I look at B&FT, what it is saying. I want to see what B&FT says. For us, we want to be able to target all sections of our society; but on top of everything, we need the B&FT to secure whatever we put out there. Thanks for your professionalism, we are always at peace with B&FT’s reportage and professionalism,” he said.

Mr. Baidoo made these appreciative comments when he paid a working visit to the Ashanti Regional office of the Business and Financial Times in Kumasi, with a primary objective to deepen ties between the two organisations and familiarise themselves with operations of the business newspaper.

He further acknowledged the attention that B&FT has given AngloGold in their operations as a mining company over the years, and pledged to work toward strengthening the business relationship.

“Thank you for the cooperation we have enjoyed from your outfit. We can be proud of ourselves as a company that enjoys huge positive mentions in the media. We feel that is something we shouldn’t take for granted, but rather knock on your door and thank you because we cherish the relationship we have enjoyed and the support. The relationship must move away from transactional to a deeper one wherein we know each other well,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Manager of Business & Financial Times, Seth Krampah, used the occasion to brief the Anglo Gold team on activities and operations of B&FT while highlighting some special projects the Paper undertakes to give comprehensive information on industry to the reading public.

He hinted that the Regional Office will use the business relationship between the two companies to put together a special report on the mining industry every year, as part of B&FT’s special projects on some select industries.

He further congratulated AGA for their 10-year Socio-Economic Development Project (SEDP) initiative launched recently, and assured AngloGold of the Paper’s support to ensure the success of this laudable development initiative.
