Wesley Methodist Society holds preaching competition at Awukugua

The Wesley Methodist Society, as part of their 140th anniversary celebration which took place on Saturday, August 27, 2022, has held a preaching competition among the local churches in Awukugua in the Eastern Region.

The competition, which seeks to bring unity and friendship among the churches in the township, was held under the leadership of the Minister in Charge of Wesley Methodist Society, the Rev. Isaac Yao Boamah Jnr; the Leaders’ Meeting; the Anniversary Committee Chairman, Bro. Moses Larbi; and the Event and Planning Committee chair by Bro. Isaac Addo.

After the competition, Peniel Pentecost Church was first, the Wesley Methodist Church was second, and the Victory Presby Church was third.



The Special Guests of Honour were Nana Afua Onyene, Akwamuhemaa of Awukugua; The Very Rev. George Darkoh-Ampam, the Superintendent Minster of Adukrom Circuit; and Mr. Okyere Afari. The judges for the competition include Rev. Dr. Enoch Tham-Agyuekum, a lecturer at KNUST, Mr. Anthony Koranteng-Afriyie Akwafo and Miss Rita Tagoe. The Master of Ceremony was Mr. Daniel Kwadwo Agyei.

The Committee presented items such as books, pens, pencils and other items for studies to the contestants. The organisers for the competition include Emmanuel Nortei Snr., Augustina Frimpong, Patience Addo, Joseph Addo, Elvis Frimpong, Joseph Opoku, Emmanuel Nortei Jnr., David Obuobi, Benjamin Kofi Ntow, Solomon Lartey and Daniel Ohene Ayisi.
