The Executive Management Team of PassionAir – the domestic airline with the largest route network in Ghana – has paid a working visit to the Upper West Region’s capital, Wa.
The visit was to assess the airline’s operations in the region, interact with travel agencies and explore the possibility of linking the Wa route with other destinations in Ghana.
The airline is considering operationalising the Accra-Kumasi-Wa-Kumasi-Accra routes, as well as Accra-Tamale-Wa-Tamale-Accra which were suspended due to operational reasons.
The team, led by Chairman of the Board Air Commodore Kwame Mamphey, paid a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih. The minister, who played a major role in getting the airport to be operational, congratulated them for making the region proud by utilising the airport.
He expressed his delight that PassionAir operating the Accra-Wa route has saved the people of the region the travelling time between Accra and Wa. A journey that takes approximately eighteen (18) hours by road is now done in an hour and a half by air.
The team then interacted with travel consultants in the region to evaluate the possibility of increasing the frequency of flights between Accra and Wa. PassionAir currently operates daily direct flights from Accra to Wa.
Members of the team included: Mr. Edward Annan, Accountable Manager of PassionAir; Samuel Ato Hagan, Managing Director; Duncan Sambu, Chief Operating Officer; Rebecca Ruttmern, Administration and Human Resource Manager; and Munirah Yussif, Sales Supervisor.
PassionAir currently operates daily flights from Accra’s Kotoka International Airport to Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and Wa.
PassionAir also operates charter services within Ghana and the West Africa sub-region.
The airline plans to commence operations to Sunyani in early September, with four (4) flights a week on the Accra-Sunyani route. The maiden flight is expected to be on 9th September 2022.
