- ……hands over library complex and washroom facility
Nyakrom Rural Bank PLC, the first rural bank in Ghana at Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region has constructed two projects and handed over to the beneficiary communities.
The two projects include a six-seater washroom and a library complex which were handed over to Nyakrom Health Centre and Odoben Senior High School respectively, having had the SOS call from the Management of the two institutions and their community leaders.
The two projects, which are worth a total of GH¢236,188, were part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to the two beneficiary communities, with the washroom facility for the health centre costing GH¢130,565, and the library complex for Odoben Senior High School costing GH¢105,623.
The CEO of the bank, Mr. Kaedabi Donkor, has however urged the management of the beneficiary institutions of these facilities to put them into good use and maintain them to the benefit of the communities.
He hinted that the bank intends to give more support to the adjoining communities in and around the bank’s operational territories momentarily.
The support, according to the CEO, has been possible for the simple reason that the bank was able to improve upon its performance last year in 2021 Financial Year over the 2020 financial year in which the bank’s Total Assets went up by over 40 percent, Total Deposits by 38 percent, Total Net Loans and Advances by 150 percent, Profit before Tax by over 150 percent, as well as Stated Capital increasing by over 50 percent.
The Board and Management are of a strong belief that with the policies and programmes put forward by the Board in conjunction with other internal stakeholders, Nyakrom Rural Bank PLC would see the desired results in the coming years.
Mr. Donkor entreated all and sundry to do business with the bank at all the branches, and gave advanced assurance that good products and customer service await all prospective clients.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lawyer Solomon Quanzie, reiterated the Board’s commitment to helping other communities with some of their needs in the coming years. He urged the management and staff of the health centre and the school to ensure the facilities are well-maintained at all times.
He encouraged the people, particularly in the beneficiary communities, to do business with the bank so that it can do more from its resources for other communities.
Omanhene of Agona Nyakron Traditional Area, Okofo Okatakyi Nyarko Eku X, thanked the bank for the gesture, and encouraged the Board and Management not to relent in their effort but push hard so that all other communities under his jurisdiction can benefit from the bank.
He also encouraged the citizens to do business with the bank, especially buying of shares, since he is of the view that the bank would be in a position to declare dividend in the coming years.
The Agona West District Director of Health, Mrs. Bertha Attah, also thanked the bank for the support to the health centre and the health directorate over the period. She was of the view that the washroom had come at a time where the facility was in dire need of it, and promised to ensure it is well-maintained.
The headmaster of the beneficiary Senior High School, Mr. John A. Yankey; the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District Education Director, represented by Mr. Eric Ofori; and the Traditional Leader of Odoben, Payin Kofi Kakrah, all pleaded for more support for the school and urged the management and staff of the school to maintain the project for more students to benefit from.
Nyakrom Rural Bank PLC was established over 46 years ago as the 1st rural bank in Ghana. The bank currently operates 10 branches across Central Region, with branches at Kasoa, Fosu, Agona Swedru, Gomoa Bisease, Odoben, Nsaba, Bobikuma, and Agona Nyakrom where the Head Office is located.
