The Governing Council of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has appointed Professor Seidu Al-Hassan as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The appointment was announced after an emergency meeting held by the governing council on Thursday, June 9, 2022 to deliberate on the next vice of the university. The appointment of Prof. Al-Hassan takes effect from September 1, 2022 for a period of five years.
Prof. Seidu, a former UDS Pro Vice Chancellor, will take over from Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye who retires from active service in September 2022. He also happens to be the fourth vice chancellor of the university since its establishment in 1992. He is a Senior Lecturer and holds a PhD degree in Agricultural Economics and a Diploma in Education.
He has over 12 years of teaching and research experience. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he provides technical assistance to governmental and non-governmental agencies on a consultancy basis in areas such as community development, micro-finance, and development and management of small business enterprises. He is a network member of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).
His research interests are poverty, policy management, community development, applied microeconomic theory, literacy, and peace education.
