The Director of Lead International School, Richard Kwarteng Ahenkorah, said the school will transform the Pokuase environs upon full implementation of the school’s 10 years strategic plan. He was speaking at the school’s dedication and graduation ceremony held at the school’s premises at Pokuase-Amanfrom on Saturday December 11, 2021.
The occasion was attended by dignitaries including the Pokuase-Amanfrom Chiefs, Ga North Municipal G.E.S Director, Esther Jones Safo and her Deputy, Ayishetu Abdullai, Bishop Gideon Yoofi Titi-Ofei (Bishop at the Pleasant Place Church, who dedicated the school to God) and representatives from the G.E.S among others.
The Director of the school, Richard Kwarteng Ahenkorah shared the L.i.S story. He urged people with dreams not to give up. He shared the process towards the acquisition of the school and the difficult decisions made in the difficult times of 2020.
Mr. Ahenkorah, the Director of the School, who is a banker, an author, a corporate trainer, a strategist, an entrepreneur and a lecturer of strategic leadership and organizational management, extended his profound gratitude to everyone who was present.
Having increased the student population from 197 in January 2021 to 548 in December 2021 (within 11months), the Director was optimistic that Lead International School will be the pace-setter in education in the Ga-North Municipality in Greater Accra Region. As he shared the vision of the school, he was enthusiastic that the school which is a community inspired private international school, has one major aim, which is to raise the NEXT LEADERS.
The Vision of the school is to develop generational leaders today and the mission is to develop global leaders through sound education using the school’s values LEAD: Learn. Evolve. Act. Develop.
His conviction that Lead International School will be around for a long period of time is hinged on the fact that, out of the total population of about 235,000 in the Ga North Municipality, about 45,000 are within the ages 0-14 years; and the annual intercensal growth rate hovering around 2.5%, there can only be room for growth.
He called for government’s support for private school owners who have the passion to develop the next leaders. “I must say that inasmuch as passionate private investors have seen the need to invest in education, I have to admit, from my very experience, that, it is not an easy road. Government must make it their core responsibility and duty to assist private basic school owners with significant incentives to make schools sustainable over a long period of time.
It is obvious that private schools are not only complementing governments mandate to ensuring that all children of school going age are in school, private schools are genuine partners supplementing governments responsibility to ensuring that the fundamental human rights of children (of school going age) are met as enshrined in the UN Convention on the rights of the Child which affirms that every child has a right to education.”
The Director introduced the newly appointed and the first Principal of the school, Maxwell Nyanor, to the audience and said that, aside from the fact that every good community deserves a great school, Lead International School is on a mission to transform Pokuase and its environs
