Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, Madam Yang Yang, has won two prestigious awards at the just-ended Sustainability and Social Investment Awards 2021 in Accra.
Her company was adjudged best company for its initiatives in Promoting Road Safety and Practice, and Sustainability and Social Investment in Road Safety.
About the sustainability and investment awards
The purpose is to create awareness, encourage companies, CSI/CAR foundations, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other implementation agencies in delivering high impact CSI/CSR projects which align with government’s focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and to also adopt a multi-stakeholder approach leading to excellent outcomes.
The SSI awards are also conceptualised to publicly recognise the impacts made by companies, enterprises, institutions and individuals through exemplary success in voluntarily improving the quality of life for people and communities. They are also to recognise businesses which creatively approach corporate social responsibility and reward those who are creating new standards, committing their organisation to make social responsibility an integral part of their business.
Ghana Industry CEO Awards
Ms. Yang was also adjudged Ghana’s most respected CEO in the automobile category at the 4th Ghana Industry CEO Awards 2021. The Ghana Industry CEO Awards are aimed at identifying the most respected CEOs in Ghana through public votes and the practice of good corporate governance across all sectors.
Organisers of the programme described Ms. Yang Yang as outstanding CEO whose conduct, capacity, performance and accomplishments are exemplary and fully deserving of public recognition.
She is indeed exceptional, based on the respect she commands among the general public.
About Ms. Yang Yang
Ms. Yang Yang is an experienced facilitator with knowledge of China and Africa. She holds a Bachelor’s degree with major in English and Literature from Bejing International Studies University, China.
She holds an MA in International Communication from Communication University of China, and Executive MBA degree from the University of Ghana. Yang Yang has been living and working in Ghana since 2009, and has been teaching organisations in Ghana how to do business with China.
And he is also the founding Managing Director of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited – a Ghana-based automobile company that is specialised in assembling, selling and distributing heavy- and light-duty vehicles.
She travels a lot around West African countries such as Togo, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and Benin to deliver speech to many organisations. She also works as a TV producer for the CUNY TV I channel 75 NYC, NYUSA – where she interviewed the Chinese community in the US and produced several programmes about them.
Ms. Yang Yang told the B&FT in an interview that she is excited her contribution toward road safety is being recognised. “We are in the automobile industry; to maintain road safety is our responsibility, and we are doing our best to minimise road accidents by training drivers as part of our corporate social responsibility.
“This is what we are fighting for always. However, by this organisation recognising our efforts, then they are motivating us; so we also appreciate their recognition of us,” she said.
In May 2021, Zonda Tec Ghana was also recognised as the outstanding Heavy-Duty Vehicle Company of the Year at the Ghana-West Africa Business Excellence Awards.
