STCCI launches digital market to boost trade across the globe

The Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI) has launched a digital platform for businesses – especially the small and medium enterprises – to trade in Ghana, Africa and across the globe.

The digital platform www.chambersmarket.com, known as the Chamber Market, developed by the STCCI comes with an app for users on both the Apple and Android systems; and enables users to own a virtual store, operate and promote business at convenience, and shed the risks in managing a physical store/business.

At an impressive ceremony to launch the e-business platform in Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah – Western Regional Minister, lauded STCCI for creating an online business enabler to grow and develop local enterprises within the region despite a COVID-19 driven era.

“I have always believed that the people of Sekondi-Takoradi have great minds and solutions to drive our ‘Enterprise Growth Pole’. I have always been preaching on this since I became a regional minister; this is another ‘made in Tadi’ and comparable to Alibaba in business,” he said.

He explained that the quest to make the Sekondi-Takoradi Financial Services Hub essential for the region greatly hinges on such innovations from the private sector, which also connects with government’s desire to create jobs. “This initiative from STCCI and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce is very commendable and must be embraced by all businesses,” the minister added

Henry Nii Ayi Cobblah, an IT consultant, explaining the technicalities of www.chambersmarket.com described it as a platform with global outlook, giving businesses the connection, recognition and reputation they deserve. He said it will also create business opportunities and linkages, and that this is an important tool businesses need to rely on.

Benjamin Nii Kpani Addy, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer-STCCI, urged businesses to join Chamber Market to boost sales and promote services; for safer transactions and value for money; favourable competition with other vendors; as well as learn customer preference for product services and feedback among others.

On how to be listed on the Chamber Market, he explained: “Register on the website, validate your account, fill your project, apply to be a business and upload business information as well as uploading product or services”.
