In a move to advance Ghana’s position as a preferred aviation hub in West Africa, the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, visited Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

A key focus of his visit was an inspection of ongoing projects at Kotoka International Airport.

He toured the construction of GACL’s new 11-storey head office, scheduled for completion in 24 months and designed to house offices, multipurpose spaces, and meeting facilities. Impressed with the progress, the Minister urged timely completion.

He also examined the strategic repurposing of Terminal 2 to accommodate both domestic and international operations. This initiative aims to alleviate congestion at Terminal 3, optimize the use of existing infrastructure, and support anticipated growth in airline operations at KIA.

With phase one completed and phase two targeted for year-end completion, the repurposed T2 is expected to significantly enhance passenger experience. The Minister concluded his visit with an interaction with GACL staff.
