The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) has donated food and essential supplies to the Dzorwulu Special School as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The donation took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the school’s premises in Dzorwulu, Accra, and forms part of the institute’s efforts to support inclusive education and show care to vulnerable children.
The items donated included- bags of rice, crates of eggs, packs of bottled water, cartons of milk, drinks, biscuits, and toiletries, among other essentials.
In her address, Rev. (Mrs.) Angela Carmen Appiah, FIoD, President and Chair of the Governing Council of IoD-Gh, said the visit was part of the Institute’s commitment to giving back to society.
“Today, as we celebrate 26 years of ethical leadership, we are unpacking the activities of our silver anniversary celebrations and are proud to continue our support to a school that shows the power of education, love, and inclusiveness.
“True leadership is measured not just by governance excellence but by our positive impact on society. Our support for this school is a moral duty and reflects our values of care and social responsibility,” she said.
She added that: “This donation is also a testament to our pledge toward environmental sustainability and inclusive growth. We are hopeful that going forward, funds provided will go toward assistive technologies, infrastructure upgrades, and eco-friendly learning tools, ensuring that students here thrive in a space that aligns with our shared vision of a greener, more inclusive future.”
She called on other members and partners of IoD-Gh to continuously support such causes, saying that charity should not be a one-time event but a continuous effort.
The students, who were clearly excited, performed beautiful songs and dances to thank their guests.
Speaking after receiving the items, the Headmaster of the Dzorwulu Special School, Mr. Frederick Tetteh, expressed gratitude to IoD-Gh and their partners, including AFRAM Publications, for the support.
“Many people think our children cannot do much. But we have shown that with the right help, they can even perform better than others,” he said.
He noted that some of the students struggle with fine motor skills, and activities like colouring help them develop the ability to write during exams.
Mr. Tetteh described the institute as “a true friend” of the school and praised their long-standing support over the years.
“Ever since I joined this school, IoD-Gh has been with us. You have treated this school like your own. May God bless you,” he said.
The donation is one of several activities planned by IoD-Gh to mark its silver jubilee and to highlight the role of ethical leadership in building a fairer and more caring society.
