Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV, the newly enstooled Omanhene of Shama Traditional Area, has pledged to spearhead socioeconomic development and create an investor-friendly environment in the community.

With a strong focus on infrastructure, education, youth empowerment and other critical sectors, Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV has pledged his commitment to transforming Shama into a model town that uplifts the living standards of its people.

Speaking to B&FT  in an interview on his developmental agenda, the newly enstooled Omanhene outlined his vision for a prosperous and inclusive community upon assuming his new role.

Youth Centre

He said the dilapidated Youth Centre that has been abandoned for over a decade will be given a facelift.

According to him, the Center serves the area’s youth and promotes a sense of belonging and support for each other.

“We have a lot of ghettos which have sprung up – and when this facility is upgraded, we will have a majority of the youth here. This place can also serve as a labour unit where organisations can walk-in to get workers,” he noted.

He explained that the assembly member for the area has already solicited funds for work to start.

“I am also supporting with GH¢100,000 to add onto the GH¢300,000 they already have. Work starts immediately so we can put the place in shape,” he added.

Shama Technical Institute

He said work is ongoing with the construction a three-storey building that will serve as a boarding facility for the institute.

“We do not have a boarding house here and we want to turn the dayschool into one which has structured environment that can ensure academic success, independence and social development for students,” he explained.

The Omanhene of Shama stated that education empowers individuals with critical thinking, fosters social cohesion and contributes to economic growth.

Educational Foundation

Also, he said, plans are far advanced for an Educational Foundation that takes care of brilliant but needy students and furthers their education to the tertiary level.

“We will also pay for the examination fees of final year students at Senior High School (SHS) level,” he said.

Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV pledged to unify the area’s people and have an open-door policy and listening ears for all as an effective way of communicating and so development can thrive in Shama.
