Frederick Faustinus Faidoo, the President’s nominee, has been confirmed as Metropolitan Executive Officer (MCE) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA).
He pulled 41 votes out of the 52 total ballots cast in securing his new position.
At a brief swearing-in ceremony, Mr. Faidoo, a legal practitioner, expressed gratitude to the President and assembly members for their confidence reposed in him.
“The task before me humbles me – I will reset Sekondi-Takoradi to achieve a brighter future for our people,” he said.
Outlining his vision for the metropolis, he promised to focus on enhancing local economic development to create jobs, improve revenue mobilisation and enforce bye-laws with greater efficiency.
“I am also committed in accountability to the public through tested practices of good governance which include periodic community engagement and town hall meetings,” he said.
He encouraged a strong collaboration between the assembly and Judiciary in the enforcement of bye-laws.
“As the new MCE, I will work closely with our MP’s as well as other institutions toward achieving the resetting agenda. My tenure will be one that’s remarkable for consultations with relevant stakeholders in decision-making.
“To the media and indeed all and sundry, I entreat you to actively get involved in our efforts at addressing the challenges which confront us as a metropolis,” he added.
For his part, Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister said: “The assembly is now properly constituted and I am confident that the MCE would help develop the city”.
