In a historic breakthrough for Ghana’s healthcare sector, Universal Hospitals Group Limited (UHG), a leading healthcare innovation company, has launched two locally manufactured medical devices, the PBS Bedhead Unit and the EA X-ray Viewer.
This marks a significant step towards self-sufficiency in medical equipment production in the country. The launch event, held at UHG’s Accra head office, was attended by key stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders.
The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, commended UHG for its innovation, stating that the introduction of the two ground-breaking devices aligns perfectly with the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services. “The Ministry is dedicated to championing initiatives that drive progress and improve healthcare quality for all Ghanaians,” he noted.
The event’s chairman and Head of Biomedical Engineering at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nicholas Adjabu, emphasized the significance of the locally manufactured equipment. “For far too long, we have depended on imported medical equipment to meet the needs of our hospitals. Today, we change the narrative by unveiling two state-of-the-art products designed and built from scratch in Ghana,” he said.
Frederick Amissah, CEO of Universal Hospitals Group, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence. “We are thrilled to introduce the PBS Bedhead Unit and the EA X-ray Viewer to the healthcare community. These cutting-edge devices are a testament to our dedication to advancing medical technology and improving patient care outcomes,” he stated.
The newly launched medical equipment is the result of extensive research and development by UHG’s expert biomedical engineers and technical professionals. Leveraging advanced medical gas technology, the PBS Bedhead Unit and EA X-ray Viewer are expected to set new benchmarks for diagnostic precision and clinical excellence in Ghana’s healthcare industry.
With this milestone, UHG has reaffirmed its position as a leader in Ghana’s biomedical engineering space. Established in 1988, the company specializes in turnkey healthcare construction, medical equipment manufacturing, installation, and consultancy services.
