Bank of Africa supports Achimota Golf Club President’s Putter 2025

The Bank of Africa (BOA)-Ghana, a member of the BMCE Group, has participated in the prestigious Achimota Golf Club Golf President’s Putter 2025, reaffirming its commitment to fostering excellence in sports.

The bank with a continental footprint has over the years contributed immensely to sports development in the country, especially golf, providing sponsorship for numerous tournaments in that area.

It was a thrilling tournament that rewarded golfers in the senior, regular, ladies and men’s categories who soared highest in the competition.



BOA’s association with the President’s Putter Golf tournament this year has provided a platform for many golfers in the country to improve their playing skills and better position themselves for future tournaments across the continent and beyond in 2025.

Managing Director-BOA Ghana, Abderrahmane Belbachir, emphasised the importance of corporate support for golf, citing its significant health benefits and the values it instils such as tenacity, resilience and determination. He noted that these values align with BOA’s mission of helping clients achieve success in their businesses.

Mr. Belbachir also expressed the bank’s commitment to investing in sports to engage the youth and impart the life-changing lessons that golf offers.

Winners

Golfers were divided into three main groups for the professionals, with winners of the various categories receiving deserving prizes.

In the Men’s Group ‘A’, Percival Ofori Ampomah emerged victorious with a handicap of 12 – recording a Gross score of 79 and a Net score of 67. David Sedem Adenyo won the Men’s Group ‘B’ category with a handicap of 13, a Gross score of 81 and a Net score of 68. Jacob Thompson claimed top-spot in Men’s Group ‘C’ with a handicap of 34, a Gross score of 113 and a Net score of 79. The women’s side witnessed Ellen Amezado, who played handicap seven and recorded a Gross of 80 and Net 73, emerging the winner in  group ‘A’.

Sarah Jiang Yang took first place in Ladies Group ‘B’ with a handicap of 17, a Gross score of 93 and a Net score of 76 while Princess Nkansah-Boadu won Ladies Group ‘C’ with a handicap of 30, a Gross score of 98 and Net score of 68

In the Seniors category, Peace Akwei won the women’s division with a handicap of 32, a Gross score of 107 and Net score of 75. David Arkutu claimed the men’s title with a handicap of 11, a Gross score of 85 and Net score of 74.

Auxiliary Prizes

Additional awards were presented for outstanding performances. Daniel Asamani won the Longest Drive award (Hole 17) for the men, while Ellen Amezado took the ladies’ prize. The Closest to The Pin (Hole 18) awards went to Rabbi Kofi Abuga for the men and Mona Myers-Lamptey for the women.

In the professional category, Alfred Kwame, Barry Yaw Dzadey and Vincent Coffie secured first, second and third places respectively. Among the seniors, Emos Korblah emerged as champion, followed by Dawuda Mahama and David Agbeko in second and third places. Viviane Kouame won the ladies’ professional category, with Jessica Tei Bearls finishing in second place.
