The management of B&FT has congratulated the Managing Director of Access Bank (Ghana) PLC, Olumide Olatunji for winning the sustainability CEO of the year award by SSI Awards.
In a remarkable year marking its 15th anniversary, Access Bank (Ghana) PLC solidified its leadership in sustainable development and social impact after the Bank received seven prestigious awards at the 2024 Sustainability & Social Investments Awards (SSI Awards) in November. The awards highlight the Bank’s commitment to innovative and impactful green initiatives.
Olumide Olatunji was named ‘SSI CEO of the Year’ for his visionary leadership and his support on environmental and social initiatives the bank champions across the country.
Commenting on the awards during the courtesy call by B&FT, Mr. Olatunji said “Access Bank remains committed to impacting the communities we serve through our innovative sustainability initiatives. By focusing on people, profit, and planet, we underscore our belief that financial success is inseparable from the well-being of our people, the prosperity of the communities we serve, and the health of our planet”.
He added that the Bank has extended its footprint to Obuasi, bringing the bank’s total branch network to 56, emphasizing its dedication to extending innovative and customer-centered banking services to communities nationwide.
In other landmark wins, Access Bank’s flagship project, “A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow,” which begun in 2023, earned three notable awards: SSI Project of the Year (Education), Best Company in Recycling Education & Practices, and Innovative Project of the Year.
Access Bank Ghana’s Menstrual Health Hygiene Campaign in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), STEM Education for Girls with Soronko Academy, and Coding for Kids in collaboration with Amalitech also won the Bank the Best Company in Girl Child Education & Empowerment.
In addition, Oluwaseun David-Akindele, Head of Corporate Communications, was awarded the SSI Sustainability Professional of the Year.
The visit further explored collaborations with the bank on key initiatives that could positively impact the financial landscape in 2025.
On more collaborations in the offing, Chief Executive Officer of the B&FT, Dr. Godwin Acquaye noted that they look forward to partnering with a financial institution to organise its flagship events such as the Women in Business (WIB) summit.
He ended by congratulating the Managing Director of Access Bank, Olumide Olatunji and the Access Bank team for their recognition and commitment towards sustainable development.
