In line with these goals, MultiChoice Talent Factory students are taking a proactive stance on sustainability efforts. The Eastern Africa Academy is mobilizing the youth in East Africa, where 80% of the population is made up of young people.

Through their Public Service Announcements which have proven effective in promoting climate action and encouraging youth participation.

Last year’s PSA, themed “Be the Change, Fight Climate Change,” celebrated youth contributions to climate action, reiterating their role in advocating for environmental justice. This year’s PSA, “Uniting for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” aligns with Kenya’s goal of reducing emissions by 32% by 2030 and transitioning fully to clean energy.

The PSA encourages youth to spearhead transformative initiatives, particularly in tree planting and ecosystem restoration. In support of the PSA and to demonstrate commitment, the academy launched a reforestation project at Nderi Primary School, planting 40 indigenous hardwood trees to enhance green cover and support local fruit production.

The MTF West Africa Academy, using their film production skills and resources produced three educational films on climate change for The Earthshot Prize:

These initiatives by MTF Academies highlight a strong responsibility to environmental stewardship and are a great testament of how each of us in our own spaces can play a part in contributing to global sustainability efforts.
