AT hosts 100 Junior High girls in ICT

The Chief Executive Officer for AT, Leo Skarlatos has emphasized the need for young ladies to prioritize education in Technology and I.C.T.

He said, I am thrilled to announce our continued commitment to empowering young women in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through the Girls in ICT initiative.

He said “In today’s rapidly evolving digital world, it is crucial that we bridge the gender gap and provide equal opportunities for all. The Girls in ICT project is designed to inspire and equip young women with the skills and confidence needed to pursue careers in technology.



By fostering an inclusive environment and offering mentorship, training, and resources, we aim to break down barriers and create a more diverse and innovative ICT sector. We believe that diversity drives innovation, and we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of female leaders, he added.

Mr Skarlatos was speaking at the visitation of the Girls in ICT to AT, the event welcomed 100 students from the Savannah, Northern, and Eastern Regions respectively who fall in the Junior High School bracket. This year’s theme was “Leadership,” aiming to nurture the next generation of female leaders in technology.

Chief Supply Chain Officer  Evelyn Sam shared her personal journey, recounting how she climbed the ladder to become the Chief Supply Chain Officer of AT.

She stated, “My journey has not been easy, but with determination and a passion for learning, I was able to achieve my goals. Taking ICT-related courses seriously will equip you with the skills needed to excel in the future.

We are committed to providing opportunities and support to help you acquire the knowledge necessary for success in the ICT industry.”

Other speakers Acting Chief Finance Officer, Ama Edjah, and Director of Legal and Regulatory, Cynthia Degbor Akafia, stressed on the significance of ICT and shared steps that could aid the students in gaining more knowledge in the ICT field. The sessions were not only informative but also interactive, allowing students to ask questions and engage directly with industry professionals.

The students were taken through different exercises like digitalisation, networks, data analytics and cyber security.

The students together with their teachers expressed their profound gratitude and appreciation to the team at AT for the time, knowledge shared with them and the insights into the new technology advancements as well.
