Poetry Corner: Shut the Dark Side Door

The bragging, barking dog

Barks every then and now

Barks at every passing shadow

Barks at everything that comes across

That bragging, barking dog

Comes across as a pampered pet

So it cruises on as a tolerated pest

The bragging, barking dog

Takes a bark to every soul

One by one

All by itself

Except to itself

That bragging, barking dog

Dreams a dark side for all and sundry

Except for itself

The bragging, barking dog

Barks at Princes and Nobles and Lords

At Princesses and Queens and Ladies

Even at their innocence

Even at their existence

But that bragging, barking dog

Backs the so very guilty

Even for their opulence

Even for their impudence

The bragging, barking dog

Barks through an open-ended door

A dark side door

The door that opens and closes when it barks

The door that opens but closes to its own dark side

The dark side door opens

Simply to pour vitriolic venom

To threaten unwarranted death

Even death that occurs on the dark side

That bragging barking dog

Barks…back to back

Barks…from a warning to a revelation

From the dark side of the door

The bragging, barking dog

Barks louder and louder

Barks anger even louder

That bragging, barking dog

Barks ever bolder

Rises ever higher…even higher

That bragging, barking dog

Raises a bark a bar higher

Even to reach the Sun, even higher

Raises a bark higher than a dog

But a day awaits the bragging, barking dog

That day when the dark side dog

Barks real venom at the hot Sun

A day awaits the bragging, barking dog

That day when the heat in the hot Sun

Burns at the dog side of the dark side dog

That day!

That dark day will slide into a barking history
