MTN Ghana, as part of its stakeholder engagement efforts, organized a community forum to interact with the people of Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

In his opening address, Kennedy Ofosuhene, Corporate Services Advisor of MTN Southern Ghana, underscored the importance of engaging with communities. “MTN has been organizing community forums across various regions in Ghana since 2023. The objective is to educate customers about our products and services, mobile money fraud, and updates on network improvement initiatives, addressing issues of fraud and how to prevent it,” he said.

He continued, explaining that the forums also encourage customers to report fraud incidents, gather feedback, and educate customers on MoMo charges and how to avoid being defrauded.

Richard Okley, Territory Sales Officer for Agona, discussed the importance of using social media to maximize profits. He mentioned that dressmakers, hairdressers, and other artisans can use Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to share their work, showcasing styles and designs to attract potential clients and other professionals, potentially leading to collaborations or referrals.

He advised them to market and promote their services, offers, and events to a targeted audience. This helps to build relationships, respond to feedback, encourage loyalty, and stay updated on the latest styles, techniques, and industry developments. “Some platforms allow clients to book appointments or purchase services directly. Establish yourself as an expert in your field by building trust and credibility,” he added.

On MoMo fraud, Mr. Okley advised the gathering to avoid phone calls from unknown persons who pretend to be working with MTN. He emphasized accepting calls only from 0244300000, the official MTN Ghana number.

Mr. Maxwell Krechie and Miss Mabel Awuah took turns giving testimonies on their experiences using social media for business. “We post our work on Facebook and WhatsApp for customers to contact us and give us business as well,” they shared.
