Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF) has announced a sponsorship package of US$100,000 for Premier League side Medeama Sporting Club. The package covers various areas, including jersey and bus branding, for a one-year period – 2023/2024 football season.
Through this package, the foundation and Medeama have agreed to use GFGF logo on the sleeve of players’ jerseys, embossment on Medeama’s team bus, branded pitch panels at the stadium, letter heads, and official website and social media pages.
Abdel Razak Yakubu, Executive Secretary of Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, explained that the GFGF logo is expected to be used on backdrop for press interviews at the press conference centre and pull-ups at the club’s secretariat. Also, there will be mention of GFGF in all radio and TV adverts as well as in all promotions, in addition to GFGF branded Polo T’ shirt for player and technical and management teams.
He said since 2012 when the company first provided the club with a bus worth US$183,380, the foundation has sponsored and supported Medeama SC.
Since then, he said Medeama has benefitted from a total sponsorship package of approximately US$1,432,585. “This includes the advertising package of US$100,000 we have announced today. Between 2017 and 2020, the foundation spent US$421,000 to rehabilitate the Abontiakoon Park to be used exclusively by Medeama SC as their home grounds when reconstruction works on the T&A Park commenced,” Mr. Yakubu said.
He added that in 2022, the foundation informed Medeama of ending its sponsorship to the club following a package worth US$150,000 for the 2021/2022 Premier League and FA Cup competitions. “Gold Fields believes the support given to the club has gone a long way to propelling Medeama SC to where it is today. Gold Fields and its foundation are proud to have been part of the Medeama’s success story, and we wish the team all the best,” he concluded.
