My name is Mychelle Kumah, I am 13 years of age and a Grade 9 student of Soul Clinic International School, Accra.
I am a young Ghanaian girl whose life has been changed by my love for reading and the decision to take spelling seriously. In a short time, I moved from obscurity to having my pictures and news about me spread all over social media, with support from Ghana and Africa. All this happened through my participation in the Spelling Bee competition.
In this book, MY BEE JOURNEY, I share with you the highs and lows of my journey through the competition and how the experience has changed my life. This journey has taught me a lot at this young age. Having gone through the process, I am confident that with adequate preparation, one day a Ghanaian/African can win the SCRIPPS Spelling Bee Competition. With this belief, I have provided some useful tips that can help children who may wish to participate in future Spelling Bee competitions. The key is to start early!
