Stanbic Bank Ghana, in keeping with its longstanding tradition of supporting agriculture, has presented a brand-new Massey Ferguson 375 tractor to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA). The tractor will be presented as the second runner-up prize for Farmer of the Year awards at the annual Farmers Day Celebration.

Kojo Akoi Larbi, Manager-Reputation and Stakeholder Management, Stanbic Bank, presented the tractor on behalf of the bank and shared how the donation falls in line with their agenda to drive national growth.

He said: “At Stanbic Bank, we believe that Ghana is our home and we drive its growth. The Agricultural sector is a very crucial part of our economy. It is this sector that feeds the people and ultimately gives us the nutrients we need to function properly as human beings. It is therefore crucial that as an organisation that seeks to drive national growth, we support efforts of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to reward deserving farmers and motivate others. As a bank, we are proud to have made this donation a tradition for over 15 years. This is a testament and symbol of our commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and empowering our farmers”.

He added that: “The theme of this year’s Farmers Day celebration is ‘Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience’. We are certain that by our donation we are playing our part in advancing the efforts of our local farmers to create smart solutions that will lead to sustainable food security for the entire nation’s benefit.”

Receiving the tractor, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, Deputy Minister for Crops, thanked the bank for its continuous support and dedication to the ministry over the past years. He said: “On behalf of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, I would like to thank Stanbic Bank for this donation. For the past 16 years, they have made it a tradition to support the ministry ahead of our Farmer’s Day celebration. We are truly grateful to them for their support, and we look forward to more collaborations with the bank”.

The 39th edition of National Farmers’ Day will be held under the theme ‘Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience’.  The year’s celebration will as usual be preceded by a 5-day National Agricultural Festival – Agrifest Ghana 2023. At an Awards Night Ceremony at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) auditorium, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will confer national honors on best-performing farmers and fishers.

Over the past 15 years Stanbic Bank Ghana, through its agricultural proposition, has been working to improve the agriculture sector across selected agribusiness value chains. With a deep understanding of the agribusiness value chain, the bank’s knowledge-based approach is aided by the deployment of smart digital solutions to scale-up the sector.
