The Ho Teaching Hospital has organised a training workshop in Accrual Basis International Public Sector Accounting Standards for its staff, particularly the finance and procurement departments.

The training, according to Director of Finance Kwasi Dzramedo, was to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the Accrual Basis International Public Sector Accounting Standards by these members of staff. Spanning four days, the training took the participants through all the international public sector accounting standards. Ghana, in 2014, adopted the Accrual Basis public sector accounting standards.

Under the system, funds are recorded once a transaction occurs and not when payment is made. Following the adoption, it has become necessary to train public sector professionals in the standards. Also, since the standards change, with time, it has become important to consistently train these public sector accounting practitioners in these standards.

In attendance at the workshop was the CEO of the hospital, the Director of Administration, Director of Pharmacy and other staff, including medical doctors and nurses. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Redeemer Krah and Winston Amoah.
