GO Energy Limited in collaboration with the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Health Directorate has undertaken a breast screening exercise in Accra as part of the Breast Cancer awareness campaign.
The program which took place at the La Poly Clinic provided a forum to educate participants on how to prevent and manage Breast cancer.
Over three hundred women from the La Dade-Kotopon and other adjoining communities attended the program.
Speaking at the event, Doctor for Resident Family Medicine at Nyaho Medical Centre, Dr. Akosua Appiah urged the public to be ambassadors of the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, willing to acquire knowledge on the illness and sharing among friends and family to curb public ignorance
She appealed to activists, organizations, and health institutions to adopt a monthly awareness program to ensure that the public is well sensitized on Breast Cancer and seek early medical assistance and intervention.
GO Energy together with other sponsors of the event, pledged to fund the medical screening of two hundred and fifty participants as part of efforts to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder diagnosis and treatment. This includes mammogram tests and Breast Ultrasound screening.
The Board Chairman of GO Energy Limited, Mr. Patrick Akorli expressed satisfaction with the turnout of events and assured that, the initiative will be improved in the coming years to benefit people from other communities.
Present at the event were the Group CEO and Managing Director of GOIL, Mr. Kwame Osei Prempeh, the Managing Director of GOEnergy Limited, Mr. Gyamfi Amanquah, Board Members of GO Energy and GOIL, and other Management staff of GOIL and GO Energy.
Also in attendance were the Member of Parliament for LA Dade-Kotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, the Director of Health – La Dade Kotopon, Dr. Adwoa Wilson, and other dignitaries.
