ASA supports two basic schools in Eastern Region

ASA Savings and Loans has supported two basic schools in the Eastern Region with teaching and learning materials.

Suhum Presbyterian Model School located in the Suhum Municipality was presented with items including 20 dual desks, 10 mono desks, table and chair for the headteacher as well as a teacher’s table. In addition, the pupils were presented with various types of stationery such as textbooks, pens and pencils, erasers and exercise books.

At a brief ceremony to present the items, ASA Koforidua Area Manager, David Amevor, said the items are to enable the students and teachers to be comfortable during lessons.

He added that the gesture is part of his outfit’s education pillar under its corporate social responsibility, which mandates them to put in relief measures to enhance teaching and learning in their catchment areas.

Headmistress of the school, Martha Agyeiwaa, expressing appreciation to ASA Savings and Loans, said the items would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning and also elaborated on some other pertinent issues facing the school.

“All our desks are broken and we are happy you’ve come to our aid but we will need more desks from other organizations as well,” she said.

At Asamankese Anglican Kindergarten and Primary School, ASA Savings and Loans Limited supported the school with a printer, various learning materials to the students, 12 ceiling fans to provide proper ventilation in the classrooms.

The financial institution had fixed burglar proof at the teachers staff common room, electrical works at the entire classroom block was redone and painted.

Head of Finance and Administration at the Municipal Education Office, Eric Opoku, expressed gratitude to the company for the kind gesture and called on other institutions to emulate what ASA Savings and Loans has done.

“I am appealing to you and other organizations to support the beautification of the schools for the students to have a conducive environment for teaching and learning.” he said.

School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Anum Circuit, Felix Gyasi, was grateful to ASA for the presentation. He also mentioned some challenges facing schools within the area.

“We need toilet facilities, computer laboratories furnished with desktop computers, bore holes for the provision of water among others,” he said.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager of the company, Richard Nartey, for his part said: “As a socially responsible entity, we do our best to ensure that we contribute our quota to the development of individuals and institutions in the communities we operate”.
