SNV Netherlands Development Organization, in collaboration with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE), Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and its Labour Department, and the Ghana TVET Service, have ended a Curriculum Vitae (CV) Review Clinic in Takoradi.

The organisations edited the CVs of job seekers to prepare them for the job market.

As part of the event, representatives from the Labour Department also briefed participants on some of Ghana’s labour laws as well as workers’ rights, protection and privileges.

The two-day CV Review Clinic formed part of the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) Project, which is funded by the European Union (EU) in Ghana and co-implemented by SNV in Ghana and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).

Also, the CV Review Clinic is to allow job seekers to have the opportunity to meet employers at the upcoming 2023 GrEEn Regional Job Fair in October at Takoradi, which will be on the theme ‘Career Prospects in TVET: The Nexus of Green Jobs for Inclusive Transformational Development’.

The fair, will connect potential employers and recruiters with job seekers in the Western Region. The GrEEn Job Fairs aims at supporting the creation of green jobs and matching job seekers to available, sustainable jobs in its two regions of implementations – Ashanti and Western.

Since 2020, SNV has organised 12 GrEEn Job Fairs at the district and regional levels in partnership with local assemblies, with the aim of providing CV support, career guidance and counselling as well as connecting job seekers to green employers.

At the district level, SNV partnered with Municipal and District Assemblies in the Ashanti Region – Adansi South, Ejura-Sekyedumase, Offinso and Sekyere Kumawu; and Western Region – Ahanta West, Wassa Amenfi, Nzema East and the Jomoro Municipality, reaching hundreds of job seekers at the district level.

In November 2021, SNV partnered with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to host a maiden regional-level GrEEn Job Fair, with over 500 participants benefitting from the fair; and in November 2022, it partnered with the Association of Ghana Industries, Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations to organise the second GrEEn Regional Job Fair.

The 2023 GrEEn Regional Job Fair, is the last of the regional job fairs as the four-year GrEEn Project comes to a close at the end of this year.
