Bank of Africa (BOA)-Ghana, a Bank of Africa BMCE Group subsidiary, has honoured about 106 golfers who participated in its maiden Invitational Golf Tournament held at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Course, Accra.

The ceremonial tournament brought together some of the country’s finest golfers from the corporate sector, who displayed impressive skills in various competitions and were honoured in a colourful event.

As strong as a group, as close as a friend – so BOA’s motto stipulates – the invitational tournament was organised to bring together stakeholders to share in the bank’s success story and honour the golf-loving community, which has remained a strong partner and friend of the brand over the past five years.

All 106 participants were awarded with top-quality branded shirts and also presented with other brand souvenirs. Additionally, winners in the various categories were presented with trophies and other outstanding prizes – coupled with bragging rights for the next year.

As part of activities to commemorate the tournament, BOA donated a well-furnished ultra-modern washroom facility to the Bok Nam Kim Golf Course to improve the centre’s sanitary facilities. BOA also presented a cheque of GH¢15,000 to the club.

Facility Manager-Bok Nam Kim Golf Course, Air Commodore Joe Adu-Gyamfi, expressed his profound gratitude to the Bank of Africa on behalf of management for its investment in the centre’s development.

He mentioned that since the facility belongs to the Ghana Airforce, the new washroom facilities will be of significant importance to civilians who visit the golf course by easing the pressure on inbuilt ones for the officers.

The bank’s Outgoing Managing Director (MD), Kobby Andah, remarked that BOA has been a partner of the game for the past five years, and has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with Bok Nam Kim Golf Club over that period.

“Golf is worthy of corporate support, taking into account the health benefits. Golf teaches tenacity, resilience and determination – and that is what BOA has always stood for, assisting clients to attain these values in their businesses. We hope to invest more and expand this competition in the next edition,” he said.

President-Ghana Golf Association, Leonard Kweku Okyere, commended the bank for investing in golf; stressing that such initiatives are important to attract more youth and women into the game, so the country can develop top talents for international competitions.
