The Chief Executive Officer of the Business and Financial Times (B&FT), Dr. Godwin Acquaye, has noted that through thoughtful collaboration, informed policies, and dynamic business practices the country can overcome the persisting macroeconomic challenges.

He stressed that not only can it help the country rebound from the challenges of recent times but also pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future.

He added that the effects of the global pandemic, coupled with ongoing environmental and geopolitical shifts, underscore the critical importance of forging a path toward a more sustainable and inclusive economic landscape.

As the world grapples with the aftermath of unprecedented disruptions, he emphasised that “Ghana, a nation known for its rich cultural heritage and burgeoning economic potential, stands at a crossroads. With a steadfast commitment to progress and prosperity, Ghana has the opportunity to leverage its resources, human capital, and strategic positioning on the continent to build a resilient and thriving economy”.

He made these remarks at the 2023 edition of the Ghana Economic Forum’s (GEF)– widely considered one of the most crucial events on the domestic economic calendar – today, Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

Themed “Building Back Better: IMF Support, Strategies to Build a Sustainable Economy, and Dynamic Business Environment,” this year’s GEF encapsulates the urgent need for collaborative and innovative solutions in the face of global challenges.

The forum, the 12th edition, is set against a backdrop of the toughest macroeconomic period in over a decade; the US$3billion Extended Credit Facility (ECF) from the International Monetary Fund (IMF); and ensuing actions such as the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). It also comes ahead of the 2024 budget presentation.

He took the opportunity to encourage all participants to engage actively, exchange ideas fervently and forge connections that will continue to catalyze a positive change.
