The Brakwa-Breman Rural Bank Limited, located in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central Region, has launched its 40th Anniversary in Brakwa,
The event marked the unveiling of a distinctive logo, representing trust, reliability, and innovation. Alongside, the cloth for the Anniversary was revealed, carrying the theme, “Four Decades of Excellent Banking Services to Our Communities.”
The festivities kicked off on Friday, September 15, with a charitable initiative. The bank donated medical items to the Children’s Ward of Our Lady of Grace Hospital in Breman Asikuma. The climax of the celebration is scheduled for a grand durbar in December 2023 at Brakwa.
The upcoming activities include clean-up campaigns, donations to various institutions, radio engagements, games, and street floats across all branches to raise awareness about the Anniversary.
Mr. Alexander Koomson, Chairman of the Board of Directors, narrated the bank’s history since its establishment 40 years ago.
He highlighted the initial mobilization of funds from the district and beyond when the idea of a rural bank in the area was conceived.
Mr. Koomson mentioned key figures, including the late Mr. Emmanuel Kingsley Aye Obeng Snr., who played a pivotal role in the bank’s early days.
Reflecting on the capital requirements set by the Bank of Ghana in 1982, Mr. Koomson shared that the rural bank officially commenced business on August 4, 1983, following the granting of a certificate by the Bank of Ghana and the Registrar Generals Department.
A breakthrough occurred in 1997, leading to the official inauguration of the bank at Breman Asikuma. By 1998, the bank began turning a profit, prompting the Board of Directors to expand operations by opening new branches at Odoben, Ajumako, Salam, and Brakwa in 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2017, respectively.
Mr. Koomson acknowledged the unsung heroes behind the bank’s success and expressed gratitude to the customers and stakeholders. He emphasized the bank’s exceptional support to traders, farmers, and public sector workers in its catchment areas over the four decades.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank, Mr. Felix Dompreh, expressed gratitude in his welcome address. He acknowledged the institution’s humble beginnings and thanked God, stakeholders, and customers for their support.
The Chairman, joined by Nana Osafori, the special guest, and the Board of Directors, later unveiled the anniversary logo and cloth. They ceremoniously cut the tape, symbolizing the official launch of the 40th Anniversary celebrations.
