In a bid to promote economic growth and support small-scale businesses within the community, Assemblies of God Church, North Kaneshie, has organised a business expo to showcase businesses of members and others within the community.

The initiative aims at creating a platform for business owners to network, share experiences and support one another, which was part of major activities to mark the church’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Recognising the potential within its congregation, the church believes that by bringing together individuals who have excelled in their respective fields it can foster an environment of collaboration and empowerment.

According to Vice Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Committee, Dr. John Ahenkora, the benefits of such events are enormous. He added that not only will it allow participants to discover new businesses and services within their community, but also provide a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to expand their networks and generate potential customers.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to create a support system within the church whereby members can rely on each other for advice, guidance and mentorship. By sharing experiences and lessons learned, individuals can benefit from the collective wisdom of their peers; thus fostering personal and professional growth.

“The impact of this initiative extends beyond the church walls. As members of the congregation grow their businesses and succeed, they will contribute to overall development of the country’s economy. By building strong local businesses, the church hopes to make a positive impact not only within their own community but also on a national scale,” he said.

He further explained that the church recognises the immense potential within its congregation, and believes that by bringing together individuals who have excelled in their respective fields they can create an environment of collaboration and empowerment.

During the Expo’s three days, participants learned valuable lessons and gained insights on various topics. One of the key areas covered was financial management, whereby business owners were educated on how to effectively manage their finances, budgeting and investing for growth.

Working capital management was another topic addressed during the event, in which participants learned strategies to optimise their working capital. This knowledge, he said, is crucial for small-scale businesses to ensure smooth operations and maintain a healthy cash flow.

It featured resource people from the church and external organisations such as the University of Ghana Business School and Ghana Enterprise Agency, among others. These experts shared their knowledge and experiences, providing participants with practical advice and guidance.

Overall, participants left the event with a wealth of knowledge and new perspectives on running their businesses. They were inspired to implement the strategies and techniques learned during the programme to drive growth and success in their ventures.

The 50th anniversary celebrations of the church are expected to be crowned in the month of November after a series of activities. This will involve gathering great men and women who have served in the church, as well as other high-profile individuals in the country.

Looking ahead, the church plans to continue organising similar events and workshops to further support and empower small-scale businesses within the community.

By providing ongoing education and networking opportunities, they aim to foster a thriving business community that contributes to Ghana’s economic development.
