Freda Prempeh takes over sanitation ministry

President Akufo-Addo has made significant changes to his ministerial team.

Freda Prempeh, the Minister of State at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Tano North has been appointed as the new Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. She takes over from Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who has been facing allegations of corruption and related offences.

Ms Dapaah, who resigned from her ministerial position on July 22, 2023, is currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

In addition to this appointment, the president, in consultation with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, as well as Roads and Highways, has made two other key appointments.

Mavis Nkansah Boadu, the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Afigya Sekyere East, is now the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. Meanwhile, Thomas Mbomba, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Member of Parliament for Tatale/Sanguli, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.

All of these appointments are effective immediately, as stated by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Office of the President.
