All set for major summit to mark 2023 World Public Relations Day Festival


The third edition of World Public Relations Day (WPRD) in Ghana has been launched, with a series of festival activities lined up to make this year’s WPRD Festival a memorable one. The celebrations are led by Global Media Alliance with the support of industry stakeholders, and took the form of a festival that started in April this year.

The WPRD Festival activities – both virtual and physical events – were aimed at bringing together Experts, Policymakers, PR Practitioners and Academia to discuss important industry-related issues, network, build and elevate the PR community in Ghana.

To kick-start the festival, a series of Twitter Spaces were held – followed by Slush Events which were greatly attended by industry professionals and academia. These slush events focused on PR Masterclass for Startups; Sustainability and ESG; PR and Media Economy; and Next Generation Women.

The celebrations’ climax is the Festival Summit, which happens at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence (GI-KACE) in Accra this Friday at 9.00am under the theme Harnessing the Power of Public Relations’. The summit serves as an opportunity to bring together PR professionals, experts, students and enthusiasts from around the world to share knowledge, insights and best practices.

It will feature renowned speakers and thought-leaders in the PR industry, who will share their expertise and experiences. They include Adelaide Abbiw-Williams, Chief Executive Officer-SES HD Plus; Nana Essilfuah Tamakloe, Director, Marketing & Corporate Relations-Absa Bank; Sophia Kudjordji, Chief Corporate Communications Officer-Jospong Group of Companies; and Emma Wenani, Chief Director-Global Media Alliance.

Special guests for the summit will be Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information; Mawuko Afadzinu, President-Institute of Public Relations Ghana; and Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari, Director-General, Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence (GI-KACE).

On July 16 each year, the world celebrates and recognises public relations and communications. It is a day when professionals come together to have a unified global agenda toward helping the world understand and utilise PR better. The first-ever World PR Day was celebrated on July 16, 2021.
