About Golden Star Wassa Ltd.

Golden Star Wassa Limited (Wassa) is a gold mining company in Southwestern Ghana that has been in operation since 2003. It commenced production from its surface operation in 2005 and commercial production was achieved at Wassa underground on January 1, 2017. In early 2018, Wassa transitioned into an underground-focused operation.

In January 2022, Wassa was acquired by Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co.Ltd. The acquisition was in line with the strategy to place Wassa on a larger platform to support the delivery of its growth. Chifeng Gold demonstrated the ability to invest and grow Wassa. It also provided an opportunity to optimise underground operations and integrate surface operations to enable Wassa to realise its potential.

Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co. Ltd. (Chifeng Gold) engages in gold and non-ferrous metal mining in China, Laos and Ghana. The market cap of the company is approximately US$4.3billion.

Named after the city where the company was founded, Chifeng Gold has been a listed company on Shanghai Stock Exchange since 2012. The company is now headquartered in Beijing and has an office in Hongkong overseeing operations across Asia and Africa.

Currently, Chifeng Gold is setting up a logistics centre in Shanghai.
