Close to Two thousand menstruating girls in selected deprived public schools within the Ayawaso West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have received sanitary pads as part of activities to mark 2023 World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

A fast-growing fintech firm, appsNmobile Solutions limited partnered a women’s right NGO Inspire Today, to bring relief to the girls.

Reports indicate that lack of access to sanitary pads due to poverty affects effective menstrual care for many young school girls.

The Girls were also provided with Bathing soap and washing detergent sponsored by Wilmar Africa, producers of Jamaa and alife soap.

Other personal hygiene items such as deodorants, shaving sticks and educational materials provided by Step publishers were also supplied to the girls.

Executive Director for Inspire Today Etornam Sey admonished the girls not to give up on their dreams even in the face of daunting challenges.

She has meanwhile charged them to take advantage of the support they are receiving from Inspire Today and be consistent in school.

The girls were later refreshed by Fanmilk Ghana Limited.

The 2023 Menstrual Hygiene Day theme is making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030. The overarching goal is to build a world where no one is held back because they menstruate by 2030.

Inspire Today Foundation is a social intervention and network organization nurturing a nationwide movement of female leaders through concerted efforts at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Establish Good Health and Well-Being) and 5 (Enforce Gender Equality).

The NGO with support from individuals and corporate institutions since 2019 has supported over 38,000 menstruating girls in deprived communities across the 5 different constituencies within the Northern, Volta and Greater Accra regions.
