ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Abesim and Berekum Business Centres in the Bono Region, in collaboration with Rafchik Health Centre, have organised a health screening exercise.
The screening was for their clients and communities in which the company operates.
They were screened and tested for malaria, hepatitis B, sugar level, typhoid, among others.
Dr. Daniel Yeboah, who was in charge of the screening, mentioned that malaria and hypertension were the most occurring diseases.
“Some were given medication according to the type of ailment, while others were referred to seek further treatment at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital. Insecticide treated nets were also distributed to them,” he said.
He advised those with hypertension to monitor their blood pressure at home and go for regular check-ups. “Reduce salt and limit alcohol intake, exercise regularly as well as eat healthy diet.”
On malaria, he urged them to seek immediate medical attention and sleep in insecticide treated nets.
Isaac Akosah, ASA Savings and Loans Limited – Abesim Branch Manager and Area Manager for Sunyani – Isaac Agyapong, both noted that: “Most clients do not have time to go for check-up, and so we deem it fit to organise health screening every year to help them check their health status”.
Also, Mr. Akosah said it will provide them with first-hand information on their health. He further encouraged them to remain focused by checking on their health status regularly.
“Apart from the health screening, tree-planting and construction of borehole for the communities in which we operate are some of our CSR programmes. We also support SMEs with loans to support and enhance their businesses,” Mr. Agyapong concluded.
