ISACA Accra Chapter

The newly-elected executives of the ISACA Accra Chapter have been sworn into office to run the organisation’s affairs for the next two years.

They are Daniel Gyampo, President; Elsie Ankumah, Vice President; Benjamin Cobblah, Treasurer and Victoria Gadzekpo, Secretary. They were sworn in during the organisation’s 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Accra along side board members.

Speaking during the twin event, Daniel Gyampo – president of the ISACA ACCRA Chapter who is also Chairman of the Governing Board -said the COVID-19 pandemic heavily impacted the organisation, leading to the relocation of some skilled workers to other countries due to the economic downturn.

This notwithstanding, Mr. Gyampo said membership was maintained during the year under review; with several strategies initiated to increase the numbers through student outreaches and professional engagements.

To sustain the positive development, Mr. Gyampo urged that a ‘volunteering spirit’ must be factored into the organisation’s plans going forward and rekindled – especially now that information technology has become a central theme of most organisations.

The year under review

Presenting highlights of the year under review, Mr. Gyampo said the chapter had several industry engagements to promote the cybersecurity ecosystem in Ghana, and improve technology governance and accountability.

Notable among these was its engagement with the Cyber Security Authority to develop and implement legislation, frameworks and guidelines for the cybersecurity industry in Ghana; and a Community Day featuring a health walk at the University of Ghana to raise awareness and recruit students.

“The chapter was also financially prudent and improved its fiscal outlook over the previous term,” he added.

Proposed name-change

Mr. Gyampo further informed the AGM that the chapter engaged the ISACA Headquarters on issues affecting the sub-region.

As a result, he said, discussions on proposals including renaming to ISACA Ghana Chapter, a review of certification fees and other key initiatives, are on-going.

He also used the meeting to acknowledge and thank all members who have contributed to making the year successful. “To the past executives and incoming, I wish to extend a hand of collaboration – showing that once an ISACA member, always an ISACA member. Together, let us build the chapter for generations to come and make our nation great and strong,” he said.
