The Western Regional Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana and Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited have supported the Western Regional Office of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

At separate ceremonies in Takoradi, Emmanuel Justice Ofori, Western Regional Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana, handed over the renovated office to the leadership of the association.

The facelift of the office saw management of the company changing the door and louvres to glass, embossment of the facility in the name of the GJA, provision of television set and accessories, among other interventions to make the regional office of GJA comfortable for journalists and their stakeholders.

Mr. Ofori described the media as cardinal in the business that they operate and must be assisted to play their role effectively and efficiently for the region and the country at large.

“This is also a token of appreciation for your continual support to our business as an interface between us and our customers, and we say thank you,” he added.

Mr. Desmond Cudjoe, Western Regional Chairman of GJA, was grateful to ECG for being the first company to respond to the call of rehabilitating the Press Centre. He pointed out that reviving the centre would create a common ground for media practitioners to gather, interact and share positive vibes for the holistic development of the region and the country.

In a related development, Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited, an indigenous company that manages wastes generated from oil and gas companies, has donated a double-door refrigerator with large freezer compartment to the association.

Emmanuel Benjamin Arthur, Business Development Manager of the company, said Zeal was impressed with the pacesetting innovation and foresight of the regional executives of the association. Over the years, he said journalists in the region have been promulgating the good news about Zeal Environmental to the rest of the world.

“When we heard you have a new leadership that had initiated moves to refurbish the Regional Press Centre, we decided to support with a large double-door fridge to befit the status of the office,” he indicated.

Mr. Isaac Ansu Diabour, Human Resource Manager of the company, explained that the gesture was to boost the morale of members of the association and motivate them to continue to do their good work. According to him, the refrigerator is environmentally friendly, adding: “This depicts that at Zeal Environmental, we don’t only manage wastes, but we also ensure that our environment is safe”.

Desmond Cudjoe, Western Regional Chairman of the GJA, expressed appreciation to Zeal for the support and encouraged other corporate entities to also support the association.

He said that the new leadership of the Regional GJA is poised to help raise journalistic standards, promote professionalism as well as welfare of members.
