All shall pass!

Have you ever found yourself waiting by the roadside, passing time by observing the passing cars and their curious inscriptions? That’s exactly where I found myself yesterday, eagerly waiting for my turn to board the next trotro to my destination. But one particular car caught my eye with a bold and mysterious inscription on its back, ‘Ony3’, the popular Ga word. I couldn’t help but wonder what it meant and why the driver had chosen to display it so prominently.

Growing up in the 1980s was a very different time compared to now, and it is interesting to see the various ways in which history has shaped our world. From bumper stickers and inscriptions on refrigerators to those on commercial cars and trotros, it is fascinating to see the mix of life events, inspirations, thoughts, trendy slang, and other topics that were popular at the time.

One particular inscription that stuck with me was ‘All Shall Pass’, which was prominently displayed on my family’s fridge. Although I never asked my parents what inspired that particular inscription, it was impossible to ignore its presence whenever I went to retrieve something from the refrigerator. The words ‘All Shall Pass’ would either be spoken aloud or murmured under one’s breath, serving as a constant reminder of life’s ups and downs.

As I reflect on the different seasons of life – the challenges, pains, joys, and victories – those words continue to hold true. Nothing, whether good or bad, lasts forever. During difficult times, they serve as a sign of hope and assurance while during good times, they remind us to be mindful of how we handle those seasons.

It is important to remember that fame, power and money are all fleeting, and what truly matters is what we do with the changing seasons. Today, we may be at the bottom, but tomorrow we may be at the top, and vice versa. Great people throughout history have had their time and chance, and they did what seemed best to them. However, they are no longer with us, and it is up to us to make the most of our time in this fleeting life.

The point is that life is full of different seasons and times that are constantly changing. It is up to us to make the most of each season and to remember that ‘All Shall Pass’. Whether we are experiencing joy or sorrow, we must hold onto hope and continue to strive toward our goals, knowing that nothing lasts forever.

You see, in a world that is constantly evolving, it is easy to become caught up in the moment and forget that everything is temporary. We may find ourselves consumed by our present circumstances – be it a difficult situation or a time of great success – and forget that things will eventually change.

Yet, ‘All Shall Pass’ serves as a powerful reminder to live in the present moment while also acknowledging that everything is fleeting. It encourages us to be grateful for the good times, to learn from the difficult times, and to remain hopeful that things will eventually get better.

Moreover, this watchword can be applied to many aspects of our life. It can serve as a reminder to cherish the moments we have with loved ones as they too will pass. It can also encourage us to persevere through challenging situations, knowing that they will eventually come to an end.

The key thing is that ‘All Shall Pass’ conveys a message of hope and resilience. It reminds us that even when we are facing our darkest moments, we have the strength within us to overcome them. It encourages us to stay positive, to keep moving forward, and to never give up on our dreams.

I may not know what you are going through right now; but hey, I will say repeat the same phrase – ‘All Shall Pass’!

Reflect and live!

May this encourage you! Enjoy life!
