Industrie du Maroc Magazine is organizing the 5th Edition of the Matinées de l’industrie event, under the central theme of « The water industry: Urgent and future challenges ». This edition will be held on January 24 at the Grand Mogador in Casablanca.

The issue of water resource management has become a priority and urgent issue, especially since the country is going through a period of intense drought. In fact, there are many actions carried out by the various government entities to strengthen the supply of drinking water and irrigation and to consolidate the resilience of our country in the face of climatic hazards. In particular, the implementation of the National Program for Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, with a budget of 155.4 billion DH.

On the strength of this perspective that is coherent and relevant to the royal vision, all of the questions relating to the development of the water supply, the management of demand and the valorization of water, irrigation and the acceleration of investments in the water sector, will be at the heart of the subjects dealt with by government representatives, institutional actors operating in the development of several sectors, in particular, industrial, agricultural and energy, etc. as well as many influential economic operators at the national level.

This event will be an opportunity to federate the commitment of the various stakeholders, to strengthen the efficiency and harmony between the actors and to consolidate the efforts made to date, in the management and development of water resources.

Key indicators

  • The start of work on 20 new dams, for a total capacity of 5.38 billion m³ and the completion of work on 14 other dams under construction (3.21 billion m³);
  • The construction of 1000 small dams for local development by 2030;
  • The installation of 3 new seawater desalination stations and the completion of work on 5 stations currently under construction, for a capacity of 328,200 m³/day;
  • Continuation of the modernization of irrigation networks and the collective conversion to localized irrigation, through the equipment of 350,000 additional hectares and the increase in areas equipped with drip irrigation systems to approximately 940,000 Ha nationally;
  • The reuse of 300 Mm³/year of treated wastewater.
