The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority has awarded some economic operators from Burkina Faso for their continued use of Ghana’s ports and corridors for the import and export of goods.

GPHA’s gesture took place during the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BFCCI) Partners’ Dinner in Accra.

The Partners’ Dinner formed part of the just ended Burkina Faso five-day Economic and Trade Promotion event in Accra, Ghana.

The trade fair sought to promote economic, commercial, and cultural potentials as well as strengthen cooperation between Burkina Faso and Ghana.

The partners’ dinner was to celebrate and magnify the historic relationship between the representation of Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ghana and its partners.

At the dinner, the President of Regional Consular delegation of Hauts Bassins, of the BFCCI, Al Hassan Sienou, said the Burkina Faso private sector through the Chamber of Commerce has an ambitious programme for the next five years, which includes the implementation of major projects to support the socio-economic development of their country.

“The dynamic is to be able to strengthen our business link. Therefore, we plan to pursue a series with you in order to establish a win-win partnership between your respective country and Burkina Faso. The current socio-economic situation marked by insecurities and economic problems, only solidarity and dynamic partnership can enable us strengthen our resilience,” he said.

On his part, the Director General of GPHA, Michael Luguje reiterated GPHA’s objective for the transit trade.

“I want to assure shippers from Burkina Faso that, together with our partners, Ghana Shippers Authority and all other public and private enterprises working in Ghana will facilitate transit trade in Ghana.”
