First National Bank is the leading financial services brand in Kantar BrandZ’s Top 30 Most Valuable South African Brands for the third year in a row. First National Bank’s brand value increased by 30 percent to US$3.5billion in 2022.
In addition, First National Bank received a Special Award for ‘Exposure’, a fundamental brand metric that recognises brands that create “great advertising with memorable icons and messages” across the category (not only banking), and is based on consumer sentiment. This recognition comes on the back of the bank’s #Changeables campaign which was launched in 2021. Again, in the 2021 brand valuation, First National Bank scored the highest across the category for Exposure – great advertising – based on positive consumer reception and perceptions of the campaign.
First National Bank CEO, Jacques Celliers, says: “It’s an honour to be named the top financial services brand in Kantar BrandZ’s Most Valuable South African Brands this year. Our brand was recognised for its resilience to be able to provide meaningful help to customers during these difficult times. This honour validates our efforts to help customers through our trusted digital platform with superior interfaces. We continue to invest in our enterprise-wide platform, which enables customers to perform most functions digitally. We’re also pleased to see our highly rated FNB App continuing to attract millions of customers who use it to access both financial and lifestyle services”.
“As a brand of #TheChangeables, we understand the importance of brand agility, relevance and evolution in our quest to continue meeting the needs of our customers,” says FNB Chief Marketing Officer, Faye Mfikwe. “Our platform strategy enables us to support our retail and commercial customers through assisted and unassisted interactions via interfaces such as Points of Presence, the First National Bank App, Online and Cellphone Banking.”
First National Bank Ghana Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Adu, expressed his excitement of the award. “This is another feather in the cap of First National Bank. We in Ghana are proud to share in this recognition, and I am positive that we will keep demonstrating genuine interests and commitment to improving our service offerings and innovative banking experience in Africa and beyond.”
As part of its ever-growing list of accolades, First National Bank recently received recognition for its digital prowess when its eBucks Rewards programme was named a global leader in Best Use of Technology at the 2022 International Loyalty Awards. First National Bank Connect also ranked highest as the Digital MVNO of the Year at the global MVNO Awards.
