In a statement issued this week, Charles Larnor, General Manager Trellidor Ghana, lamented on the increasing number of companies selling inferior burglar-proofing to home and business owners – especially retractable and fixed door and window barriers.
Larnor stated, ‘We are witnessing a very dangerous situation unfolding should the trend continue. Some of the burglar-proofing we have been called in to inspect and replace provides little or no defence from a break in at all.’
He continued, ‘Flimsy and rusty light metal burglar-proofing painted over to disguise its flaws is no match for a burly robber or gang. Low prices are obviously attractive in the current economic climate, but we advise buyers to beware – they’ll get what they pay for and the worst time to realise that is after inferior barriers have failed to stop a robbery.’
