Kwahu Professionals Network has as a key objective the pursuit of charity projects that provide opportunities and hope for the less privileged and marginalized in Kwahu to maximize their human potential.

Thus in line with that, the network has, since its formation, rolled out various initiatives to support its kinsmen back home. One of such initiatives is ‘GiveBack’, during which network members give off their time, expertise and resources.

Since the formation of the network, GiveBack has been held every year, mainly as an onsite medical screening and philanthropic activity that caters to the health needs of the indigenes, except for 2020, when donations of medical and sanitary supplies were made to selected health facilities. The initiative has to date, benefitted 1000s in Kwahu and the neighbouring towns.

Program Overview

GiveBack is an annual health and philanthropic initiative of the Kwahu Professionals Network. The main objective is to provide healthcare, primary medical assistance, and other basic needs support for its less privileged kinsmen in Kwahu.

The network is made up of professionals who hail from Kwahu. Its current membership is about 1000 across its three chapters: Ghana, the UK, and the US. Through their benevolence and support, the GiveBack program introduced in 2019 has become a flagship program that always has a spot on the annual KPN event calendar.

The Maiden Program-2019

The first GiveBack program took place in 2019 at Kwahu Bepong. The one-day program catered to over 2000 people. They received medical care, were supplied with essential drugs for their diagnosis, and were counseled on healthy lifestyle choices. Children also received used clothing, food packs and were treated to various recreational activities. The impact made at the program was huge and brought to the fore the need to expand the coverage for subsequent programs to reach more people, ideally, the whole of Kwahu.

2020-The Covid-19 Edition

In 2020, the program format was modified due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead of organizing the free medical screening for the indigenes, the network presented Covid Relief Items to five (5) hospitals and CHP compounds in Kwahu. The items, included sanitizers, bleach, nose masks, among others.

GiveBack 2021

In 2021, the GiveBack program was organised in collaboration with the Ghana Medical Relief (GMR), a nonprofit humanitarian organization that delivers healthcare to various villages in Ghana. The GMR team comprised of 60 plus health practitioners from Ghana and the USA. The program was held over six days, 5 of which were purposely for medical care at the Atibie Government Hospital. Attendees received medical care for health issues such as hernias and dental problems. Urology and gynaecology issues were also attended to. The National Health Insurance Authority in Kwahu lent their support to the program by providing free NHIS card registrations and renewals.

A climax event that provided psychological and nutritional counselling for the aged was held on the 6th day at the Nkwatia SDA Park. Participants also received goody bags. Children were also catered for at the final program, receiving used clothing and food packs. For the entire duration of the program, new registrations for the NHIS cards and renewals were done for free. An estimated 5000 people benefitted from the event.
