The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has lauded the pace of development and work of Electrochem Ghana Limited since the commencement of its operations in the area.

Nene Akuaku III observed that the company has so far justified the confidence the Ada state and entire traditional council had in them, leading to leasing the Songor concession for their operations.

The Paramount Chief also serves as the President of the Ada Traditional Council, and gave assurance that the Council firmly supports Electrochem Ghana while recognising the work done since commencement.

“As traditional leaders of the Ada state, we know we are mainstay of the project and we remain resolute. Every one of our actions in respect of this project is based on a solid conviction of Electrochem Ghana’s capability to breathe a new life into the Songor concession and push it into wider prominence as a world-class salt production site,” he stated.

Nene Akuaku III was speaking after an extensive tour of the concession to apprise himself of the progress made since the company took over a little over a year ago, and also added that the company is developing the concession for the people of Ada.

“A lot of investments have gone into the project already, and the positive social and economic ripples are being felt by the citizenry,” he said.

The Chairman of McDan Group, Dr. Daniel McKorley, noted that: “Electrochem Ghana is in the construction phase with lots of engineering and structural work taking place”.

Also, he said, the company has not lost sight of its commitment to improving the quality of life for the people and overall development of the Ada state.

“Aside from our other social interventions – such as the daily supply of potable water to institutions and communities, disbursement of interest-free loans to women entrepreneurs – we have so far invested about US$5million into the construction of a sports complex at Sege, Ada, as part of efforts to make Ada the home of pure sporting talents.

“In no time, we will start unearthing and honing raw talents right here in Ada. This is an area I am particularly passionate about,” he added.
