As the world continues to celebrate women all over the world, Old Mutual Ghana is happy to celebrate these women who keep making great impact in their field of work and the world at large. Meet the board directors of Old Mutual and their messages for all women.

  1. Hellen Amarquaye (Board Chairperson)

Hellen Amarquaye is a Business Risk and Compliance Executive with experience across industries including Telecommunications, (Re) Insurance and FMCG. She also serves as Old Mutual Ghana’s Board Chairperson and a Non-Executive Director at Old Mutual Ghana.

As a woman what do you love about being a board member at Old Mutual?

As Chairperson of the Board of Old Mutual Ghana I love that we ‘Walk the Talk’ when it comes to diversity; it shows in our board composition of 50-50 gender split with diverse professional backgrounds. We are also deliberate in driving that pattern throughout our workforce. We know there is commercial benefit with diversity.

Your IWD message to all: Don’t be afraid to show up as yourself. Be Bold and question the status quo.  Challenge bias! Be confident – it makes breaking the bias easier

  1. Edith Uyovbukerhi

Old Mutual Ghana, a leader in insurance and a celebrated employer, is privileged to have four dynamic women as board directors.

Edith Uyovbukerhi has wide experience spanning over 29 years in blue-chip companies in the UK and Ghana. She is also the founder of LittleBigSoulsGhana – an International Charitable Organisation, and a board member of Old Mutual Ghana. She holds an MBA in Finance from Stirling University in Scotland and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Brighton University, Brighton – UK.

As a woman what do you love about being a board member at Old Mutual?

Old Mutual Ghana has a diverse and gender-balanced board, and it is chaired by a dynamic woman. This has reaffirmed the value we bring to the overall strategy and to decision-making. It also ensures that there is more inclusiveness and broader stakeholder representation. I’m very proud to be a part of that.

Your IWD message to all: I celebrate all women on IWD. There is still a lot for us to do as women to impact, and to change mindsets and systems that are shrouded with biases. Let’s do it! Let us uphold unity, together we can break the bias.

  1. Ethel Cofie

Ethel Cofie is an entrepreneur, a global speaker, an author and a board member of Old Mutual Ghana. She was also named as one of the top 5 women influencing technology across Africa and sits on numerous boards including West Africa’s largest fintech and logistics companies.

 

As a woman what do you love about being a board member at Old Mutual?

It has always been important to me as a leader on the technology space to only join companies that are willing to push the boundaries of innovation and so the decision to become a board of Old Mutual was an easy one.

As a woman leader I was doubly impressed that the number one company for corporate insurance in Ghana had correctly balanced women leadership on its management team and also on its board. I am excited to be on the journey with Old Mutual.

  1. Prabashini Moodley

Prabashini Moodley is the Managing Director of Old Mutual Corporate with work experience in various roles across Personal Finance, Old Mutual Investment Group, Mass and Foundation Cluster and a secondment to Old Mutual Mexico.

As a woman what do you love about being a board member at Old Mutual?

I love being able to bring my perspective and experience to the table and make an impact on guiding the strategy and delivery of our brand promise to our customers, staff, community, shareholders and other stakeholders.

Your IWD message to all: Always support one another because we are stronger together. Support one another to achieve better!
