The Chief Executive Officer of UMB, Nana Dwemoh Benneh, has attributed the successes of the bank over the past 50 years to the bank’s uniquely Ghanaian approach to banking that puts the customer at the centre of their operations, products and services.

Nana Dwemoh Benneh said this when UMB hosted editors and senior journalists to a soiree in Accra. According to him, “The success of UMB, as an indigenous Ghanaian bank, over the years is anchored on our core values of speed, passion, excellence, ethics and diligence. The past 50 years have been characterized by events and innovations that changed not only the banking industry, but the world at large, chief amongst which is the technology and the internet.

“As bank that prides itself in being relevant to the times, we have had to redefine our operations and products to reflect the changing times and demands of our customers. And five decades of doing this and still going strong is testament to our stability, resilience, viability and customer-centric approach”.

Nana Dwemoh Benneh also dedicated the achievements of the bank to its People – customers and clients, staff and other partners; who have kept faith with the bank over the past half a century. “We are certain that any successes we have gained in the last 50 years is due to our people. We acknowledge the contributions of our staff, both past and present for their dedication and hard work.

“We also recognize the loyalty of our customers and clients across the country who have kept faith with gave us the opportunity to deliver a uniquely Ghanaian perspective to banking over the past 50 years. We are very quick to admit that we could not have achieved all these laurels without them and we are truly and profoundly grateful to them”, he said.

Nana Dwemoh Benneh was full of optimism for the future of the bank leveraging on the gains of the past and the vast opportunities that the future brings. He noted that “As we celebrate the accomplishments of the past, we are very clear in our strategy. We will aggressively pursue our intent to became a digital-first, SME led bank, leveraging our brand equity and heritage in wholesale banking to create a profitable franchise, delivering competitive value through technology.”
