GTA donates assorted chocolates products to Damongo Central Mosque

Management of Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in the Savannah Region has shown love and gratitude to the Chief Imam of Damongo Central Mosque, Amadu Musah and his followers with the donation of chocolate and its assorted products.

The donation includes 10 boxes of chocolate, six packs of chocolate beverages and six packs of chocolate drinks. The team also used the occasion to educate residents on the need to ensure peace and tranquillity in the community.

Speaking to the media after the presentation and engagement, the Savannah Regional Director of Ghana Tourism Authority, Isaac Opirah, commended the chiefs and people of Damongo for their support in ensuring the protection and the preservation of the various tourism sites to attract investors and tourists to the region.

He said the focus of this year’s event was to encourage community participation in national events and also promotion of the national cultural heritage. The region, he said, has lots of tourism potentials that efforts are being made by the Authority to liaise with the traditional authorities to enhance them to meet the standard which would also help the operators generate some revenue.

“We are also making effort to ensure rehabilitating of the various tourism sites to make the place economically vibrant. As an organisation, we are here in recognition of that strive to inculcate the spirit of true love and peace into Damongo and beyond,” Mr Opirah stated.

The Director used the occasion to also appeal to residents to consume more chocolate products to help improve their health and the country’s economy. He also encouraged indigenes to take advantage of the technology and the use of their phones and the social media to promote the various related activities in their communities to the world.

“No one can promote our culture and its lineage if we do not promote them ourselves. It would help attract more tourists and investors to help develop the local economy,” he said.

Chief Imam of Damongo Central Mosque, Amadu Musah commended GTA for such a gesture saying, “this is the first time we have receive such donation and we really appreciate.” According to him, the leadership of the mosque is ready to back management of GTA to enhance the tourism sites including the mosques to attract more tourists.
