Today, Zeepay Ghana Limited – Africa’s fastest-growing Fintech – has announced a partnership with Ghana’s Premier Football Club, Asante Kotoko SC, as their Official Payment Partner.
Asante Kotoko competes in the Ghanaian Premier League and has been champions of the Ghana Premier League a record 24 times. The team has won the CAF Champions League twice and were adjudged the African Club of the Century by the International Football Federation of History and Statistics.
The deal offers the Fabulous Booths project as a means to establish a physical presence for Asante Kotoko across Ghana. “Co-Branded Fabulous Booths will be placed in over 30 major cities around Ghana,” according to Zeepay GM-Commercial, Dede Quarshie, to serve as trading units/centres for Kotoko business – such as selling match tickets, replica jerseys, the Kotoko Express Newspaper as well as partner services such as remittance collection, agency banking, insurance sales, Mobile Money and many more. These booths will also be used for face-to-face supporter registration.
As part of the brand association with Zeepay, Asante Kotoko has introduced the ‘Zeepay Man of the Match’ award for the most outstanding player of each match. “The Man of the Match will be awarded GH¢2,000, said the CEO of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah.
In addition, Zeepay has significant bragging rights in association with Asante Kotoko Club and has been granted full usage of Asante Kotoko’s logo on all related branding, as well as pitch panels, jerseys and related matters. “In line with Zeepay’s Financial Inclusion mandate, we will also offer 20 of our award-winning kiosks to club supporters as part of employment generation,” said Corporate partners and financial inclusion analyst Maria Oti Achampong.
