Hungarian President János Àder has promised his country’s collaboration with Ghana on various fronts including extending water treatment technology to all sixteen regions of Ghana and helping build more water treatment plants.

He also agreed to assist Ghana with agricultural technology and other technological support that will help Ghana’s economic growth.

The Hungarian President gave these assurances during his official visit to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia palace recently.

Earlier, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II had requested action instead of the signing of documents which breeds no results. He requested that Hungary partners Ghana to develop water treatment technologies across the country and also in the areas of agriculture, reforestation, environment, waste treatment and other areas of our national life.

The Asantehene who stressed the need to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and perform deeds that will lead to mutual growth for both countries, also praised the President for his long service in politics and for showing strong leadership in his country. He also lauded him for his efforts towards strengthening relations with Ghana. He believes such relations will inure to the mutual development of both countries.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II explained that Ghana is importing almost everything; a situation that is putting pressure on the country’s economy. He affirmed that a strong collaboration between the two countries, characterized by the sharing of knowledge will help put Ghana’s economy on a sound footing. He insisted that distance and cultural differences should not be obstacles for collaboration.

President János Àder who was excited about the grand reception given him by the Asantehene said he was equally excited about Otumfuo’s quest for action rather than the signing of MoUs.

He pointed out the essence of enough quantity of good quality water in the future and stressed that there is no life without clean water. He offered Ghana suitable technology to produce clean drinking water and expressed his country’s readiness to assist in constructing further plants.

Mr. Ader’s multi-day visit to Ghana focuses on areas of cooperation aimed at boosting foreign trade and securing mutual benefits. The two countries have shared expectations of cooperating in the areas of trade, pharmaceuticals, ICT, water management and environmental protection.

He visited the sewage treatment plant in Kumasi which employs Hungarian technology. Ghana and Hungary are expected to set up a mixed economic committee to promote and facilitate bilateral projects.
