The competition brought together 12 teams from various communities to battle for supremacy at the Klagon school park in Tema on Saturday.

Akuapem Youth from the Eastern Region and Jasikan based Buem SC from the Oti Region were all present to showcase their talents while Serial Callers Association, Marathon SC from Sakumono and Kotobabi CAC all took part. Ashaiman had Wanted FC from Tsinagbe and Zenu Ahotor Fun Club with Lashibi based Group FC and Lashibi United joining the home teams Klagon All Stars and Royal Sportive for the one-day event.

The host, Klagon Royal Sportive emerged victorious on the day after beating Lashibi United 4-1 on penalties. Both teams played to a goalless draw in a end to end game on Saturday evening at the Klagon school park in Tema.

Royal Sportive and Lashibi United were both unbeaten throughout the competition and showed lots of quality to book their tickets to the final. The Champions could have buried the game in the first half after missing a few scoring chances that came their way.

Lashibi United grew stronger after the break but could not match the tactical prowess of Royal Sportive who kept misfiring. The game would finally be settled through spot kicks with Royal Sportive converting five while Lashibi United scored once. Buem SC finished third and were very unfortunate to lose on penalties to the Champions in the semi-final having dominated the game from the blast of the whistle.

As part of Ahotor FM’s Corporate social responsibilities, the one-day event saw Royal Sportive’s young goalkeeper Joshua Lagah crowned the best player after his heroics in the semi-final and final having saved 4 penalties while Buem SC’ Daniel Opare was also adjudged the Most Discipline Player. All the 12 teams were presented with a set of jersey and football while the top three teams received extra jerseys each with two Footballs and cash prize for the Champions.
